Cha Dao - The Way of Tea

The Hanzi (Chinese character) Dao (道) can be translated as "path, method or way". Dao is made up of the radicals: walk ( 辶) and head (首) showing a head "going" or "leading" the way, so Cha Dao (道) is often translated as "The Way of Tea".

Although the concept of Cha Dao originated in China it has come to encompass all aspects of tea ceremony and tea ritual, including Gong Fu Cha (功夫茶) and Japan's Cha No Yu (茶の湯).
