Mi Lan Xiang Oolong (蜜兰香乌龙 - Honey orchid fragrance) is one of the finest teas we offer. An exquisite Oolong tea hand picked by Tea Master Song Lin.
The leaves of this Dan Cong (单枞 - Single Bush) Oolong are from an 80 year old tea tree on the slopes of Phoenix Mountain (凤凰山 - Feng Huang Shan) in China's Guangdong Province.
The tea leaves are left to wither in the sun, before further withering indoors. They are partially fermented in a large pile overnight and then follows a process of firing to increased temperatures (180°C degrees and 230°C) and rolling (which releases essential oils). The leaves are then high roasted over charcoal for 10 hours to give them their roasted taste.
This tea has a honey and floral profile with a delicate honey taste. It has a rich "mouth feel" and a smooth feeling in the back of the throat when swallowed, which in Chinese is known as Hou Yun (喉韵 - throat rhyme). Mi Lan Xiang has a lingering sweet after taste. A true classic!
