Gyokuro (玉 露 - Jade Dew) is the highest graded green tea in Japan. It differs from Sencha in that it is shaded from sunlight for a minimum of 20 days before it is harvested, in a process called Kabuse (かぶせ) which means "to cover".
This process increases the level of Chlorophyll and reduces the tannin levels in the tea leaves. The result is a tea leaf that is a darker green, is sweeter and has no bitterness.
The Gyokuro that we offer has a fragrant aroma with vegetal notes and a light bodied, full flavoured refreshing taste.
