Hojicha is different to other Japanese Green teas, as it is roasted in a porcelain pot called a Horoku (ほろく) over charcoal, which turns the tea leaves a reddish brown.
Our Hojicha is made using Sanbancha (三番茶) which is a 3rd flush Sencha, harvested between Summer and Autumn. The roasting process also reduces the amount of caffeine in the tea leaves.
Hojicha has a fresh aroma and a full bodied profile, with a sweet taste with cinnamon notes.
